Piccolo is an adorable 10-month-old, 39-pound rescue from Mexico City, now happily fostered in Sooke. We’re on the lookout for his forever home on Vancouver Island, where he can settle in with minimal stress.
Rescued alongside his mom and littermates from a busy street, Piccolo has mostly known life in an open-air shelter. Now, he’s discovering the joys of home life with his amazing foster parents.
Initially shy, Piccolo transforms into a total lovebug once he trusts you. He adores cuddles, playtime, walks, and bursts of zoomies! While he’s easygoing for a young dog, he still has plenty of energy and puppy playfulness.
Piccolo is house and crate trained, and his food motivation makes training a breeze! He walks well on a leash but can be nervous in new situations, like meeting unfamiliar dogs or walking in the dark.
He gets along well with people and other dogs, especially with slow and thoughtful introductions. A friendly, confident resident dog would be a fantastic companion to help him build trust and confidence.
Piccolo needs a patient and understanding home that can give him the time he needs to settle in. Ideally, he’d thrive with someone who is around often or works from home to support his training and socialization. He would love a home where he can play, explore, learn, and be loved. Due to his playful nature, he’d do best in a home without young kids, as he still engages in play biting and needs a strong owner to guide him through this new journey in Canada.
