🏡 House trained, good in house when left alone

Duke came to us with his sister Chicken on December 1/25 through Canadian Animal Task Force as part of a large seizure of 300 animal and was very shut down and extremely anxious, unsocialized, afraid, and guarded. Now, he is much more trusting, curious, and playful!! Exactly how a dog should be!!

Duke excels when frolicking outdoors, where he takes on the persona of a star athlete, though his coordination and cold tolerance need some improvement!!

He is house-trained, will whine to go outside to do business, and prefers to sleep in a corner on his dog bed (crating has not been necessary).

When he was first in care he was very  fearful and avoidant with new people, however Duke now warms up within a couple of hours, especially with women. Men are a bit more intimidating to him and will take him more time to find comfort in their presence. He is a curious, gentle and timid pup with a lot of love to give. Once his trust has been earned, he is affection and fun!

Duke loves adventures and walks nicely on a leash and loves the dog park!! He is good with other dogs (appreciates calmer playmates) and fills his days with suckling his blanket, chewing toys, and resting up for outdoor pursuits!

Duke has made incredible progress since intake and now greets his people at the door rather than trying to hide!

His foster parents and fur brother have provided the perfect environment for Duke to learn and enjoy life, and he shows gratitude daily with his happy, calf-like loping and goofy, heart-warming smile.

With patience, love, and understanding, Duke's owner will enjoy loyal companionship and a quirky, priceless friendship.
